Recipe Note
Ramen is a versatile dish that can be customized with a variety of garnishes to add flavor, texture, and color. Here are some ramen garnish ideas you can try:
Soft-boiled egg: A soft-boiled egg is a classic ramen garnish that adds richness and creaminess to the broth. You can marinate the eggs in soy sauce and mirin for added flavor.
Nori sheets: Nori sheets are thin sheets of roasted seaweed that can be sliced into thin strips and added to the ramen as a garnish. They add a slightly salty, umami flavor and a crunchy texture.
Bamboo shoots: Bamboo shoots are tender, flavorful shoots of bamboo that are often used in Asian cuisine. They can be thinly sliced and added to the ramen for a crunchy texture and earthy flavor.
Bean sprouts: Bean sprouts are a light and crunchy garnish that add a fresh, vegetal flavor to the ramen. They can be blanched briefly before adding to the soup to soften them slightly.
Scallions: Scallions, also known as green onions, can be thinly sliced and sprinkled over the top of the ramen as a garnish. They add a mild onion flavor and a bright pop of color.
Roasted pork: Roasted pork, also known as chashu, is a traditional ramen topping that adds richness and depth to the broth. It can be thinly sliced and added to the soup or served on top of the noodles.
Corn: Sweet corn kernels can be added to the ramen for a burst of sweetness and texture. They can be roasted or grilled before adding to the soup for added flavor.
Kimchi: Kimchi is a spicy and tangy Korean fermented vegetable dish that can be added to ramen for a punch of flavor and heat.
These are just a few ideas for ramen garnishes, but feel free to experiment and add your own favorite toppings to customize your ramen to your liking.
